For me it is important to have identified times that I am at least going to look at work and school work. I by no means believe that I am in quadrant 2 that covey presents as non-important / non-urgent, or the prioritizer, in the zone. I would like to improve my time management, but I do feel that my military background has me in a habit of over planning and embracing the concept of, "early is on time."
This habit has never seemed clearer in the presence of an 11 month old, full time job, grad school, and clearing my credential (BTSA). I have learned to seize the moment, and that I am a creature of habit. In order for me to be most productive it was important for me to identify my work/learning strength and strategies before attempting to establish a routine. The conclusion of my observations led me to understand that I work best at the beginning of the week, and am most productive in the mornings, but can work efficiently for a few hours at night, I value sleep, I need exercise, and I NEED A BREAK when the weekend arrives. For this reason my routine is as follows: Sunday - Tuesday night I focus on school work and work after dinner and bath time 6:30m on, Wednesday I do a night mountain bike ride, Thursday and Friday night I do school work or work, Saturday morning I do school work, and SundayI start all over again. For me it is important to have identified times that I am at least going to look at work and school work. I by no means believe that I am in quadrant 2 that covey presents as non-important / non-urgent, or the prioritizer, in the zone. I would like to improve my time management, but I do feel that my military background has me in a habit of over planning and embracing the concept of, "early is on time." In conclusion I recognize that I do not mind committing myself to getting work and assignments completed, but I do not prefer to work under extreme deadlines or pressure, I also do not prefer to work for extended amounts of time. For these reasons, I prefer to make the most of my free time available. I do often stack the beginning of my week as I know that the tail end can wear me down (maybeI need to work on that).
